This week's Midweek Music is The Gossip "Standing in the Way of Control". The Gossip is an American band that is more popular overseas than here. I have no idea why. This live performance gave me chills. Everyone is dancing and singing like they need to in order to live. Beth Ditto is the classic front woman. She is sexy, funny, full of energy, and is oh so stylish. She mixes thrift clothing with designer to make her own look. I love her dramatic liquid eyeliner with red lips. This manicure is to try to capture that colorful, fun loving, and rocking spirit. <br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/party1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="307" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/party1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This is a layer multicolor manicure with Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow and Confetti Tazmanian Devil. Mellow Yellow is a GREAT yellow nail polish. This is two coats with even coverage. There is no streaking or bald spots. This isn't a primary yellow color so it works with a wider range of skin tones. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/party3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/party3.jpg" width="284" /></a></div>
Confetti Tazmanian Devil is a glitter bomb with three different sized particles. There is the large hex shape, the medium round shape, and tiny specks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/party2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/party2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/party5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/party5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
These thumb photos show the range of shapes and colors. I really love these multicolored, different sized particles glitters. I have yet to try the sandwich method or use them to create a franken. So far I have Milani Gems and Confetti Tazmanian Devil. I can't want to add OPI Rainbow Connection.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/party4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/party4.jpg" width="284" /></a></div>

<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/gemma1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/gemma1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I have some really great news! After a little more of a year of graduating with my B.S. in Biology and unemployment I have a job and I'm back in school. I will be working at a local beauty supply store which carries Zoya and OPI. They are my top two brands so I'm excited to have direct access to them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/gemma3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="270" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/gemma3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I don't need to remind anyone how hard the job market is here. I have applied to countless places and my college degree is worthless without any experience. My experience is that I was a student worker and years of working as a veterinary assistant. My educational goal is to get my Masters in Cosmetic Chemistry so I'm back at school to get training on how to be a laboratory assistant.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/gemma8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="314" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/gemma8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Last summer was one of the worst in my life which is why I started this blog. I want a happy anniversary to replace the bad one. I'm not where I want to be in life but I'm not giving up. I still have dreams and I'm working towards them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/gemma7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/gemma7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Another accent nail manicure with glitter. This is Zoya Gemma which was a lemming the moment I saw a promo photo. Military green is one of those colors that looks great on me. I have a jacket this color that I have owned still I was in middle school. The glitter is China Glaze CG in the City which I layered over Gemma. This a multicolor glitter with purple, silver, and black. I would of worn this like crazy as a goth teen. I want to get another bottle for frankens. <br />

<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/combo1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/combo1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Events in my personal life have finally settled down for me to return to this blog. I have missed it and going to try my best to make up for lost time. I have a bunch of photos to post of previous manicures which is going to keep me busy. This manicure of purple and green is one of my favorite color combinations. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/combo4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/combo4.jpg" width="318" /></a><a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/combo2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/combo2.jpg" width="308" /></a></div>
This is Color Club Pucci-licious and What A Shock!. Pucci-licious is a neon blue purple. The neon isn't that strong and looks more like a bright cream. However, my pictures make it look blue. The one picture that makes it true to life gave me red hands.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/combo5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/combo5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
See what I mean? It is very pretty and the formula is great. I can see how this a very popular purple.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/combo3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/combo3.jpg" width="319" /></a></div>
<br />
What A Shock! is a neon shimmer green. It's a bit sheer and I believe this is three thin coats on my nail. I'm going to try layering it with white to give it better coverage. I like the combination of creme and shimmer for accent manicures. I think it makes the accent nail stand out even more.<br />

There are major events going on in my life right now which is the reason I haven't posted. I will try to get back on track but I leave you will a video of my favorite silver fox losing it. At the 2:30 mark is when he can't stop laughing. Humor is the best way to cope and I'm trying to laugh as much I as can to keep relaxed.<br />
<br />
See you hopefully before Midweek Music. <br />

</a></div>This week's Midweek Music is Of Montreal's "A Sentence of Sorts In Kongsvinger". Being the music fan I am I keep hearing the name Of Montreal but never bother listening to their music. I'm a bit of music snob (I'm working on it!) so their hipster name and art work turned me off. That was until my boyfriend first played me their classic album "Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?". I'm a glam rocker fan and they have that style. They are not afraid to be silly or weird. This is actually a fan video with a cute woman running around, dancing, smiling and joins her bunny friend in the end. This song always makes me smile and I imagine this playing when people land in LAX and walking into that bright Southern California sun. On to my bright sunshine manicure. <br />
<a name='more'></a> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/Spots2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/Spots2.jpg" width="308" /></a></div>I love this manicure! It's so bright with Color Club's awesome neons and shimmers. The base is Koo-Koo Cachoo a safety cone orange. I used Konad plate m57 and Wet n Wild Black Creme for the leopard spots. I then used a dotting tool to fill in the spots using What A Shock! and Ulterior Motive. What A Shock! is a neon green with green shimmer and Ulterior Motive is a glitter/shimmer that is purple with blue and red particles. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/Spots1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/Spots1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div> The results are perfect for such a fun loving song with a silly cute video. Thanks for reading. <br />

The French Bicycle is a reference to the fact that this is a layered manicure with Color Club Oui! Oui! Oui! and CND Bicycle Yellow. Get it? (Goodness I can't help but make lame jokes.) Read my descriptions of the polishes and to see more pictures. <a name='more'></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/Bicycle2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/Bicycle2.jpg" width="315" /></a></div><br />
CND Bicycle Yellow is a bright primary color. The formula is not too bad, three thin coats or two medium coats. I had bald spots when I first starting using this polish but I think it was my lack of skill with the brush. All Lacquered Up has a great detailed description of how to use CND's brush. <a href="http://www.alllacqueredup.com/2011/07/alus-365-untrieds-cnd-creamy-cameo-nail-polish.html">How to use CND's brush</a> I have since followed her advice on letting the polish sit on the brush for a few seconds before I start painting my nails. Fewer bald spots and a coat of SV makes it look perfect.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/Bicycle4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="247" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/Bicycle4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Color Club Oui! Oui! Oui! is a green and white shimmer polish. I haven't worn this by itself yet but I knew the green shimmer would make for great layer manicures. I know it looks like it's only white but believe me the green is there. I should do a layer manicure with black to show the green. One layer of this soften the brightness of the yellow and made it looked very close to how it looks in the pictures. These photos are after a few days of wearing this manicure (I think a week!) so please excuse the tip wear. Now that I'm doing this blog my painting has become neater and I take photos earlier. <br />

I hope that their wacky and colorful nail art becomes popular on this side of the pond. I actually find their art for the Knightsbridge Topshop not that crazy compare to their other nail art like eyes and Aztec. <a href="http://wah-nails.com/post/8826560404/nails-for-knightsbridge-topshop-this-weekend">Wah Nails for Topshop</a> I do Konad but I rarely take pictures. </a></div>Hello and Welcome to Midweek Music. I have always been a huge fan of music and it plays a major role in my life. I have read books, seen movies, meet people including my boyfriend through music. This week is Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds "O Children". When I watching "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows part one" I was surprised to recognize the voice Harry and Hermione were dancing too. The funny thing is that I have owned the albums "The Lyre of Orpheus and Abattoir Blues" for awhile but I rarely listened to them. That was corrected and they both work well with each other. "The Lyre of Orpheus" has "O Children" as the last track and it's a great choice for a Harry Potter film. Time to show you the manicure I wore for "Deathly Hallows part 2" midnight showing. <br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/HP3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="197" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/HP3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>The colors are from the four houses. Index is Gryffindor with OPI's Smitten with Mittens, middle is Slytherin with OPI's Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow Suede, ring is Ravenclaw with Wet N Wild's Blue Moon, pinky is Hufflepuff with CND's Bicycle Yellow, and the thumb is Wet N Wild's Black Creme and the Deathly Hallows symbol drawn on with the silver Claire's two way nail art pen and brush. I used Nubar's 2010 to add some more "magic" to the look.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/HP1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/HP1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>The 3D glasses are from the midnight showing. They're too cute to not keep.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/HP5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/HP5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/HP4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="259" src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/somegirlsblog27/HP4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I love how Nubar 2010 changes from green, gold to bronze. <br />
